Anxiety levels are higher than ever across the board. So too is fatigue and burnout. We have more input and more asked of us than ever before. We all need a bit of a pick-me-up from time to time. Sometimes it goes beyond this.

Many of us need something extra to give us a bit more energy, help our brains function optimally, clear our heads of brain fog, and allay the effects of the stresses and strains of daily modern life.

I know I certainly do, which is why I turn to nootropics.

They are not the answer to long term chronic stress, anxiety, or fatigue. The first thing you should do is try to set up a lifestyle geared towards low stress, without asking more of yourself than you’re able to give (easier said than done for many of us). However, if you do need something a little extra, something designed to help optimize your cognitive and mental health and wellbeing, nootropics are a good bet.

If you want one of the top nootropic supplements on the market, should you look to Mind Lab Pro? Find out as I bring you my full verdict after a month of testing in my Mind Lab Pro review.

TLDR: Mind Lab Pro Verdict

Mind Lab Pro is amongst the best nootropic supplements on the market. I’ve used it myself over the years to great effect, as have thousands of others.

It is high-quality and proven to work, and it rests on a great deal of solid clinical data.

What Is Mind Lab Pro?

Mind Lab Pro is made and distributed by Opti-Nutra Limited Company, one of the top supplement companies globally. It is a nootropic supplement.

Nootropics, or so-called ‘smart drugs’, are quite an extensive and diverse category of natural supplements (and sometimes even prescribed drugs like Adderall) that seek to optimize human executive function whilst diminishing the effects of anxiety and fatigue.

They tend to work on brain chemistry alongside a few other pathways, looking to optimize cognitive output. In fact, Mind Lab Pro has been found to allow Alzheimer’s patients a greater quality of life by remedying some of the difficulties they face in recalling their core memories.

Mind Lab Pro is entirely natural, with no synthetic chemical or dangerous ingredients in its profile. This sets it apart from prescription drugs like Ritalin or Adderall, which are only available through a licensed specialist, and which tend to elicit some quite serious side effects.

However, as with these drugs, Mind Lab Pro should aid your focus and concentration, improve your memory and recall, and make you more creative, whilst also improving your mental wellbeing, helping to alleviate symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression.

Everything included in the Mind Lab Pro formula rests on good quality scientific research. This should be standard. However, in the modern supplement industry, this is very far from given.

What does Mind Lab Pro do?

Mind Lab Pro actually does quite a lot. There is no one thing it does that simply makes your brain ‘work better’ or anything like that. Rather, it gives you a wide array of health benefits which should collectively improve your overall cognitive and mental health and wellbeing.

It can help to regulate your brain functions. This is rather obviously key to maintaining mental focus and agility, keeping your brain working optimally.

The herbal ingredients included in its formula change your brain chemistry (a very simplified way of putting it, but nonetheless quite accurate in describing the experience of taking Mind Lab Pro). This keeps your basic brain structure healthy whilst also promoting longevity, mitigating any harm that might be done to your brain and nervous system as you age.

Nootropics also often seek to naturally improve your energy levels, which Mind Lab Pro does incredibly well. It boosts your brain’s energy, diminishing the effects of fatigue and cutting through any lingering brain fog. We all get this brain fog and lethargy from time to time, some more than others, and it can drastically impair both your productivity and your quality of life. The multivitamin formula included in Mind Lab Pro helps with this. It also improves blood flow to the brain, which means more oxygen and nutrients to keep it fed and functioning optimally.

This faster blood flow also means that the active ingredients contained in Mind Lab Pro’s formula (see below) will get to work quickly, crossing the blood brain barrier and enabling them to take effect and boost your cognitive health.

There is also a great deal of evidence supporting the idea that Mind Lab Pro promotes alpha brain wave presence and function. This is where a great deal of the calm, relaxed energy comes from. It will help you with better sleep, including more healthily regulated sleep cycles, which itself will lead to greater energy, cognitive health, and overall health and wellbeing.

Mind Lab Pro Ingredients

This is where things get good – Mind Lab Pro’s ingredients list is absolutely brilliant. It includes some of the best brain-boosting ingredients out there, all of which have solid clinical backing. All told, they should give you all the benefits mentioned above and more, leading to greatly enhanced cognitive health and function.

For starters, it gives you a good dose of citicoline. Citicoline aids with energy levels, working much like a stimulant. However, there is much more at play than that. It has been proven to improve mental performance and improve neurotransmission – the communication between cells in your brain.

Citicoline is similar to choline, though it follows a different metabolic pathway. Both work as a precursor to acetylcholine, a key neurotransmitter involved in attention and memory. It may also boost brain cell electrical energy, which will help to stabilize your mood whilst also enabling better focus, attention, and recall.

You get around 150 mg of bacopa monnieri, or water hyssop, with each dose of Mind Lab Pro. It has a long history in traditional forms of medicine, especially those focussed around India’s wetlands where it has seen centuries of use.

The main aim in taking it is to reduce levels of stress and anxiety whilst simultaneously boosting memory, making it a perfect addition to any nootropic. In fact, I would say that it is responsible for an outsize portion of Mind Lab Pro’s benefits.

Bacopa monnieri is also one of the better researched ingredients commonly found in nootropics. It has been particularly well investigated for its effects on memory in older adults, where it has been found to work incredibly well. It has even been used as an adjunct to the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of more mild cognitive impairment.

Mind Lab Pro stands out from some of its direct competition in including lion’s mane mushroom, one of my personal favourite nootropic supplements.

It includes a great many incredibly healthy plant compounds that collectively do everything you want of a nootropic and then some. For example, it contains erinacines and hericenones, which have been shown in clinical research to improve nerve growth factor (NGF) expression and stimulation. This will directly lead to improved brain health and longevity, particularly warding against neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Lion’s mane mushroom has also been linked with improvements to symptoms of depression and anxiety, and has been shown to support immune, gut, and heart health. It really is wonderful stuff.

Then there is phosphatidylserine (PS). Our brain cell membranes contain a lot of PS. It grants them fluidity whilst improving receptors and aiding the healthy function of neurotransmitters. Ensuring we have an optimal supply of PS will therefore go a long way to maintaining healthy cognition. PS has also been shown to improve glucose metabolism. This in turn should support brain cell energy and NGF production, which will aid with formation and repair in the brain cells.

MLP on table

Mind Lab Pro uses a particularly good form of PS, too. It derives it from sunflower lecithin, which should further inhibit age related cognitive function decline.

I also love maritime pine bark extract, which you get plenty of with each serving of Mind Lab Pro. Maritime pine bark extract is incredibly rich in antioxidants. Specifically, it contains a good antioxidant complex as proanthocyanidin, which should signal nitric acid release. In turn, this nitric acid release should lead to greatly improved blood flow. As we have seen, this means more blood, thus more oxygen and nutrients, to the brain.

This should lead to an uptick in energy levels, attention and focus, learning ability, and working memory.

You also get a couple of very beneficial amino acids in Mind Lab Pro. These are l-tyrosine and l-theanine, both of which are common in good quality nootropics, both for very good reasons.

L-tyrosine, included here as n-acetyl-l-tyrosine, synthesizes catecholamine. Catecholamine, in turn, improves retention, mood, and mental processing. It is also key for boosting production of certain other neurotransmitters, all of which will help lead to improved nerve cell communication.

Meanwhile, l-theanine helps to increase those alpha brainwaves which, as we have seen, lead to greater relaxed energy with more creativity. It also offers neuro-protection and can help to ward off age-related cognitive decline.

Rhodiola rosea is also on my favorites list. There is a very good reason that Mind Lab Pro features it in their formula. It is a pretty universal nootropic in its own right, bringing a wide range of benefits to bear.

These include the stimulation and sustainment of neurotransmitters and neurotransmitter transportation along the blood brain barrier, as well as allaying the effects of age-related cognitive decline. It inhibits cortisol release, too. Cortisol is the body’s main stress hormone. In reducing the amount of it released into your system, Rhodiola rosea should therefore limit your stress levels.

Finally, you get a robust vitamin B complex with Mind Lab Pro, featuring vitamins B6, B9, and B12. All of these play central roles in allowing for optimal cognitive health and function.

Vitamin B6 is important for neurotransmitter creation and regulating cognitive energy. Vitamin B9 (folic acid) helps in the production of both DNA and RNA, maintaining proper cognitive performance, preventing memory loss, and breaking down homocysteine levels, which can damage and/or prematurely age the body.

Finally, vitamin B12 helps in nerve and red blood cell production and maintenance, and in preventing neuron loss, especially in older populations.

Using Mind Lab Pro

I’ve made no secret that Mind Lab Pro is one of the best nootropics on the market. I can only think of a couple that can challenge it for the top spot. It does incredibly ably what nootropics are meant to do, and you feel the effects almost immediately.

It’s easy enough to take. This may sound like a low benchmark. However, you will be living with this stuff day-in and day-out, so you need to know that it won’t be a massive chore. The best way to take it is by throwing back two capsules with a glass of water either in the morning or early in the afternoon. You can do both, but don’t go over the manufacturer’s recommended daily limit of four capsules.

MLP in hand

You will feel the change right away. I would say that the benefits are most noticeable as they grow through the first month or so. I felt the results kicking in after a couple of days, then strengthening by the end of the first week, then firing on all cylinders by the end of around the fourth.

I was thinking more clearly. This sounds like a bit of a sweeping statement, but that’s kind of the beauty with nootropics. A good one will enhance your cognitive health so profoundly, across so many different aspects, that it really does feel like a broad, sweeping change.

I was more focussed and driven. There was no having to talk myself into sitting down at my desk. No procrastinating while I was there. No getting up to pour myself another coffee every half hour. I just sat down and set to, completing my daily word count very quickly.

The speed is only half of it, though, if that.

It was the ease and the lack of effort that really got me. This tracks with other high-end nootropics that I’ve taken in the past. I got my work done to a high standard without burning out – I had clarity and energy to spare at the end of my working day.

My memory has always been a bit split. My long term memory is great. It’s actually a bit of a party trick at family gatherings as I talk in detail about tiny events that happened in my early childhood.

My short term memory is often atrocious. I forgot what I was thinking from one minute to the next and often can’t remember words (which sucks for a writer).

Mind Lab Pro got this all in line, improving my short term memory and immediate recall by quite a startling degree. I was also able to multitask far more effectively, juggling several things at once without losing sight of the details.

My energy levels also increased greatly. I usually rely on coffee to get me through the day. Green tea if I’m trying to be good. I think my caffeine consumption halved within the first week. It’s now a little less than half what it was, and even then, I drink it more out of habit and enjoyment than necessity.

I simply don’t need it – the energy is there, ready and waiting for when I need it. And it’s not the jarring, spiky kind of energy you get from caffeine. It’s slow and open, calm but enervating.

The only other time I’ve felt it is after a really good meditation practice, except that that usually fades. The feeling from Mind Lab Pro doesn’t. It really is quite something.

There was no brain fog, either. When you’re used to putting out potentially thousands of words per day for various editors, your brain can get foggy. Mine certainly does. Anyone living a busy life will know what I’m talking about. Anybody suffering from depression or anxiety likely will, too. Mind Lab Pro cuts through that. It’s like a gentle breeze blowing the fog away, leaving nothing but clarity.

I would recommend it to anyone. In fact, I would invite anybody to try it at least once in their lives. Everybody should get a chance to feel like this at some point.

My final take

I’m never shy about being cynical about bad products. On the flip side, I’m also never shy about praising good ones. There are a handful of supplements across various different forms that I am happy to rave about – indeed, that I basically evangelize about. Hunter Focus is one of them. NooCube is another.

Anything with ashwagandha gets my vote. I’ll put Mind Lab Pro up there. It’s one of the best supplements going and I cannot sing its praises enough.

If you’re looking for all the benefits that a good nootropic can offer, you need to try Mind Lab Pro. It’s priced competitively, on par with something like NooCube, and it earns every single penny of it.

It gives you a feeling like no other, boosting your cognitive health and function whilst also maintaining it in the long run in incredibly noticeable ways.
